Liquid, transparent colors known as washes are used to create weathering effects on a variety of surfaces, including armor, vehicles, planes, ships, figures, and war game figures, as well as dioramas. All surfaces exposed to sun, wind, dust, rain, and snow experience a change in color, a loss of intensity, a dulling, and general fading. For model painters, these changes in color are challenging to reproduce, and washes provide the perfect solution to achieve these effects.

Washes can be mixed together to achieve further variations of shade, and they can be applied using an airbrush or a brush, depending on the model and the desired effect. They are particularly useful for blending the edges of camouflage colors with the base colors of a model, and they can be mixed with pigments to obtain a wide range of effects, such as oil and flaked rust, mud, earth, dust, and moss. When washes are combined with acrylic colors, they further enhance the appearance of heavy wear and weathering.

Model Wash has been formulated with a modified acrylic resin, ensuring a superficial tension similar to that of traditional solvent-based washes, but with the advantage of working with a water-based medium. The average drying time is around 20 minutes, and if several layers of wash are to be applied, it is recommended to wait approximately 40 minutes between applications. Painting tools are easily cleaned with water.

The product is packaged in bottles of 35 ml (1.18 fl.oz.) with a flip-top, and they are sold in boxes of 6 units.
