Acrylicos Vallejo, a company registered in New Jersey, U.S.A., in 1965, initially specialized in the manufacture of colors for animated films (cartoons). However, the company's most sustained expansion occurred in the 1990s, with the introduction of new products directed at the Model painting and Hobby sector. Vallejo became the first specialist in acrylic colors, with a long and varied experience in all aspects of this branch of manufacturing.

The Model Color range from Acrylicos Vallejo consists of 218 highly pigmented acrylic colors, formulated specifically for models and miniatures. These paints are suitable for use on all surfaces and are particularly well-suited for adhering to plastics and polyesters.

The Model Color range is formulated with permanent pigments for fine arts, ensuring all colors are completely lightfast and opaque. The consistency of the paints allows for an extremely smooth and uniform paint film, with no trace of brushstrokes. The water-based formula of the Model Color range has been specifically developed for adherence on difficult surfaces such as metal and plastic.

These acrylic paints from Acrylicos Vallejo are waterbased, non-toxic, and non-flammable, and come in a 17ml eyedropper bottle, which helps prevent spills. The transparent colors render a brilliant finish, tinting the surface without hiding woodgrains or other characteristics. On models, they can be applied directly for headlights and signal lights, or diluted with Mat Medium for tinting airplane or car windows (smoked glass). The application of a coat of transparent color over the same mat color gives an extra brilliant special effect.

The Model Color paints can be diluted with water, and all colors can be mixed with one another. The products do not contain solvents and are not inflammable. The colors do not contain lead pigments or any other ingredients harmful to health. Errors can be corrected immediately with water or a small amount of alcohol. Once the paint has dried, it is waterproof and permanent.
